House Majority Leader Hoyer announced today that Deputy Floor Director Alejandro Perez has been promoted to replace retiring Floor Director Rob Cogorno. Replacing Perez as deputy will be Alexis Covey-Brandt, currently the deputy director of member services and floor assistant. Perez joined Hoyer’s staff in January 2003 after serving as executive director of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. Covey-Brandt also joined Hoyer’s staff in January 2003 after having taught second grade.–CongressDaily

U.S. Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur came to a House committee hearing on Thursday prepared to ask U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson tough questions about his involvement in the subprime mortgage crisis.
